Christmas Institute exists as an evangelical arm of the United Methodist youth fellowship in reaching out to all, while spreading the word of God. It provides a safe, nurturing, and caring community to offer refuge and guidance in one’s faith. It provides an opportunity to develop leadership skills for young people. It helps build a Christian fellowship among youth. The objective of Christmas Institute is to empower the young people to know Christ and make Him known.
HISTORY:
The Christmas Institute (C.I.) now in its 30th year in Southern California, began in 1980, at All Nations Camp at Wrightwood, California. A team of clergy and lay leaders from the Filipino Caucus of the California-Pacific Annual Conference within the United Methodist Church, began this tradition that originated from the Philippines. Christmas Institute gathers youth from all over the California-Pacific Annual Conference to fellowship and worship Christ together.
Held from December 26–30 each year, C.I. now serves 170–200+ young people providing them opportunities to explore their spirituality, know Christ more, fellowship with other youth and build leadership skills. Youth participants are led by young adults and young professionals, who participate in training activities throughout the calendar year. C.I. is held at various locations throughout the Nation. All youth in junior high to second year college are welcomed to attend and participate.
